Re: I need help from MC SLiCK!
HOW 2 RECORD A SONG AT HOME!
First thing's first, a microphone. You need to make sure its a mic that has connectivity to your pc via the smaller plugin hookup on the backside of it. If your mic doesn't have the hookup, you'll need a routing cable or a preamp to make everything work. price range is of upmost importance here. if you're looking to just get started in audio and are low on money, by all means I reccomend a "shitty 20 dollar mic from radio shack or best buy" My entire first album was recorded on a shitty 20 dollar mic and i got no bad feedback about the production values. IT IS GIVEN that the more you put into it, the better the outcome. I've done some research and found a great CONDENSER mic for under 150. Condenser mics are great because they capture sound similar to the way the human ear does. The static you hear in the lower class mics are now gone and everything is crystal clear. Certain condenser mics will require "phantom power" which is solved in the form of a preamplifyer or microphone mixer, which means more money. I myself recently purchased a nice ( My Mic ) condensor microphone with a preamp package along with it from guitar center all totalling under 200 dollars. if you're going for top of the line, look for E-MU Mics...VERY NICE
Secondly, the program. Easy interfaces are available in Magix and Cool edit pro for simple recording and playback. I myself use magix and have seen no problems. there are many tutorials for the use of these programs and i'd suggest going on google to find them (i'm not going THAT in depth). Simply drag the beat in the program and record over it. later you can mess with the EQ to make the sound better (using said tutorials).
A POP FILTER IS KEY FOR GOOD PRODUCTION VALUES. pop filters take out the hard P and other pop sounds made by your lips and also prevents spit from getting in the mic and fucking things up. you can buy wrap around or standing pop filters or just make your own.
STEPS FOR MAKING YOUR OWN POP FILTER
1. take a clotheshanger and uncoil it. wrap the coil in a circle a bit less than the size of a coffee can.
2. get some old stockings from your dirty assed mom's room and wrap it around the circle you just made
3. you can hold the filter or find a stand or just uncoil the clotheshanger on the end and have it stand for you.
and thats it thats your filter. easy no?
Other than that i have a few closing remarks about audio setup and presence.
find a place with very little background noise...your microphone can and will pick up on your mom having sex in the background with her 9 o clock appointment, so try to keep the noise out.
GO IN HARD, don't record anything half-assed simply because you dont wanna sound "too hard, too loud, too cheesy." go in with intensity and stay up on it throughout the entire track.
lastly, for the love of god LISTEN TO RAP AND LEARN. there are a great many of you that dont understand the concept of staying on beat and keeping a good rhythm. Cats out there all have potential, just needs to achieved through trial and error.
there you go, a moderately complete walkthrough...
i wanna see the level of audio step up around here peeps. good luck

OK!!
First of all if you are planning to record or mix your vocal wid your choosen beat i would recomend the beginners to start their carrier with "COOL EDIT PRO"...
Now this is a simple software and it can also be used for a pro work......
As MC.SLICK said about adobe audition.....Thats a software that the pros still use now a days like skibkhan and other mainstream rappers.....They use that cauz they have used cool edit pro in there past experience.....Cool edit pro can also be mentioned the older version of Adobe audition.....But Audion has made their newer verions a bit complicated....so if you are planning for recording or mixin sumthin proish then as a beginner you should start off wid COOL EDIT PRO.....and there are many many tutorials available not only that you this software is very small in size which is very good for the slow net users of bd.....And about Adobe audition i am still learning it though i know almost all the parts.....But i still prefer Cool edit pro ....
If you need any help wid cool edit pro or if you want to download it.....
DO LET ME KNOW!
Peace
